This handwritten newsletter is for people who have even the slightest desire to celebrate language, literature, imprecision, going for it, and/or the mysterious passage of time.* It is for people who want something more exciting than the Costco catalogue in the mail. It is also for people who want to remember that they belong to The Making and The Becoming, in the company of the like-hearted. I initially started it to help share about my latest book, italics, but it has already become a way to honor the creative community that keeps me going.
Each month or so, you’ll receive a handmade calendar, an update, some poetry (or something poetry-adjacent), and usually an invitation to make something together. You’ll know you’re getting something from me and not Publisher’s Clearing House (too dated?) because the envelope will be handmade – maybe from a magazine page, bingo card, or even a tortilla chip bag. Your postal carrier thanks you in advance for giving them a reason to smile.
*The passage of time becomes even more mysterious when entrusted to the US Postal Service. I have been told that the newsletters take anywhere from 2 days to 2 months to arrive, so I guess what I’m saying is I have to practice what I believe: efficiency is not the aim of the artist.
